Dog Power: Salvation Through Conservation
One of the larger founding collection artifacts at the Museum of the Grand Prairie is an animal treadmill, or dog power. By 2025, it had deteriorated to the brink of total loss.
Funding through the Forest Preserves Friends Foundation allowed for professional conservation. This work saved the treadmill, allowing it to continue preserving the story of early farm power and the birth of a museum.
"Dog Power" explores the lifecycle and history of a museum artifact, and provides a glimpse into professionally preserving historic artifacts.
