Scotch Plaid Quilt

Stanley Rankin completed this quilt in 1991 and does not appear to be from a kit but from his own imagination.

This block quilt is comprised of thirty squares, five across and six down. The squares each contain a large four petalled rosette with a central hole which allows the background of the square to show through. The squares are pieced together and have multicolored backgrounds, black, orange, yellow, bright blue, and green. There are six different plaids employed in the making of the rosettes. The overall effect of the quilt is bright and bold, quite a difference from the pastel flowers of the Yellow Rose, or the calicos of the Dresden Plate. The backing of the quilt is a russet calico.

The quilt is signed SJR, 1991.
