Verene Cole

Verene Cole was born January 12, 1910 in Oxford, Mississippi. She completed her grade and high school education there. She met and was married to Osborne Cole, a serviceman. In 1944, her family moved to Champaign, Illinois. During Mr. Cole's tour of duty, she traveled to many places, including Europe and the South Pacific. While living in Champaign with her two children, she worked as a domestic.

Verene was a member of the St. Luke Christian Methodist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverends Bishop and Kennedy and served faithfully on the Usher Board, and in all areas of service to her Church.

She was the mother of two, a daughter, Esmus Kinard, now deceased, one son, Theodore, a granddaughter, Dorothy Kinard and a great grandchild.

Verene Cole passed away in June of 2002.
