Dr. Phillip Norman

Dr. Norman was born on September 8, 1933 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. He was the son of Oscar Clifton and Philippa L'Estrange Morris Norman. He married De Lois Williams on January 16, 1959. Together, they had a son and a daughter.

Dr. Norman was a dentist and began his practice in Champaign in 1973. He graduated from Tougaloo College of Tougaloo, Mississippi in 1955 and from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee in 1959. He was a member of the National Dental Association and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Norman was a Prince Hall 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Lone Star Masonic Lodge. He was also founding member of Sigma Xi Chapter of Omega Psi.

He was Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. He served in Japan, New Hampshire, Texas and Washington DC. He was also a member of the Air National Guard Reserve.

His hobbies included hunting, camping, botany, and traveling. He had an extensive collection of blues and soul music.

Dr. Phillip Norman passed away on May 27, 2000.
