About
The Museum of the Grand Prairie is a facility of the Champaign County Forest Preserve District, and is located at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve in Mahomet, Illinois. The museum offers dynamic exhibits, programs and events rich in local history.
Our mission is to collect, preserve and interpret the natural and cultural history of Champaign County and East Central Illinois. Through diverse experiences, we seek to inspire our audiences with a sense of connection to, and stewardship of, their natural and cultural world.
The Museum of the Grand Prairie is also accredited through the American Alliance of Museums.
