Dora Flowers Jamerson

Dora Flowers Jamerson, daughter of Willie B. and Arillian Flowers, was born on December 29, 1925 in Eupora, Mississippi. She was the third of six children, five boys and one girl. Dora married Fred B. Jamerson and together, they had two daughters and two granddaughters.

Dora graduated from Webster County High School in Eupora and Mary Holms Junior College. She taught at Jordan Chapel School in Webster County, Mississippi. She and her husband moved to Detroit, Michigan in the early 1950s, where they resided until they moved to Chmpaign in the 1960s. Dora then worked as Supervisor of the Files Department at Collegiate Cap and Gown for twenty-five years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of St. Luke Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Past President of the Missionary Society, sang in the New Life Choir, and serveed as Assistant Sunday School Teacher. Dora was a member of Church Women United, NCNW and Douglass Seniors. She was a member of the Provena Covenant Medical Center Auxiliary for more than 10 years, servinng on the Patient Mail Delivery Service. In addition to visiting the sick and doing her volunteer work, Dora enjoyed reading, cooking and crocheting.

Dora Jamerson passed away on February 3rd, 2016.
